Switching from cooking at home to going out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is the thing to do on Koh Lanta. And because we followed this lifestyle easily, I want to share with you a couple of restaurants we’ve been eating in during our 2 months stay on Koh Lanta. No matter if you are interested in breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner. No matter if you are vegetarian, vegan or a meat-lover. Even if you just want to get your daily sugar dose into your system; in the upcoming list, you will find a mix of everything. So, first of all, let’s talk about where to go for breakfast & lunch on Koh Lanta.
Where to get breakfast near KoHub on Koh Lanta?
Let’s start with the — at least most people say — most important meal of the day: your brekkie.
Fruit Tree Lodge & Coffee Shop
The Fruit Tree Coffee Shop is my absolute favorite when it comes to great breakfast. The menu is not very big, but the things they have are all the more delicious. The owner is a really nice guy who will chat with you like you’ve been friends since nursery.
The only thing that the Fruit Tree Coffee Shop lacks is soy milk (or any other kind of none-cow-milk). But who knows, maybe they will adapt, like The Living Room Bakery did 😉
What did we order
- Chunky sandwich with avocado and bacon: my absolute favorite one
- Chunky sandwich with brie and homemade cranberry & orange jam: delicious especially with the jam
- Avocado on toast with poached eggs with salmon
- Nutri drinks: omg — soooo good and really filling
- Bread with butter and honey: easy but yummy
- Passionfruit & Mango Smoothie: that’s how “healthy” should always taste like
- Croissant & Chocolate croissant: all-time classic 😉
- Energy balls: my all-time favorite, especially to-go for my typical need of energy in the afternoon, when fighting the urge to go to the beach instead working was sooooo damn hard
If you are lucky and they still have avocados, the chunky sandwich with avocado and bacon (if you are into meat) is a MUST-HAVE. Try it before the avocados get out of stock!

My favorite dish was definitely the chunky sandwich with avocado and bacon — grab it as long there are still avocados on Lanta 😉 or go for the avocado on toast with poached eggs with salmon – yummy
Location
The Fruit Tree Coffee Shop is located 9 min walking distance to the south of KoHub.
Living Room Bakery
The Living Room Bakery is even closer to KoHub than the Fruit Tree Coffee Shop. It also has a bigger menu, which in my opinion is very often, or even in most cases, more of a disadvantage than a benefit.
What did we order
- Avocado sandwich for breakfast: you can’t even compare it to the one at Fruit Tree Coffee Shop ;-(
- Club sandwich for lunch: really delicious and a big portion
- Good Morning shake: delicious
- Brownies: omg — still licking my fingers
- Chocolate tarte: yummy
- Soy caramel latte: at least they have soy milk this year
- Birthday cake for Laura
The cool thing about Living Room Bakery is not only the close location to KoHub but also that after being there last year almost every day and bringing my own soy milk to get my soy caramel latte, they adapted! Last year I have always brought my soy milk and they have stored it in their fridge, always giving me an update on how many of my soy lattes I would get out of the leftover milk, so that I could bring new soy milk supplies 😉 This year they had soy milk on the menu — which is great for all the people who wanna have their coffee with none cow milk.
For us … well, we also have adapted since last year and because I am not operational when I don’t get my soy caramel latte before 11 am we brought our own Cold Brew Coffee Maker to Koh Lanta. So now we are independent coffee makers and prepare our iced soy caramel latte at home and bring our self-made coffee to KoHub in our amazing Hot/Cold Sigg Bottles. This setup not only reduces our costs but also reduces the plastic trash. Even if it’s just the amount of plastic cups two people would have used during two months Koh Lanta, it is at least a start.
As the name itself indicates this place is also a bakery. So for the occasion of celebrating Laura’s birthday, we ordered a birthday cake. It was really nice, delicious and they even delivered it to the place we have had the birthday party in the evening. Which btw. was very convenient, especially if the only way going around Lanta is either by Tuk Tuk or Scooter. None of those vehicles is a preferable cake transportation option 😉

As for the favorite dish: Brownies, Brownies and … ehm … Brownies, but the club sandwich is also really good 😉
Location
The Living Room Bakery is only 4 min down south of KoHub — so super convenient if you want to grab a brekkie in the morning or coffee any time of the day.
The Fat Pig
I first heard about the Fat Pig when I was looking for a breakfast place for our KoHub Communal Breakfast event, I wanted to organize. Steph and Kevin suggested the Fat Pig and after hearing how excited Sara got after I mentioned that one, it was settled. I contacted the owner about booking a table for about 10-15 people via messenger and the communication was super easy and convenient. In the following weeks, we had 3 Communal Breakfast events at the Fat Pig and it always has been a really great experience, with great food, nice staff, and a beautiful view. Most of the days we stayed longer for a quick game of Port Royal or just hanging around and enjoying the view. So although it is not really “near” KoHub, I wanted to mention it because of our Communal Breakfast events.
The special thing about the Fat Pig breakfast is that you can “build” your own breakfast. You get a piece of paper with separate dish options, like poached eggs or scrambled eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, toast, bread, bacon, ham, … and you can choose exactly what you want to have on your plate.
The only thing I have to mention is the bit disappointing Banana-Passionfruit crêpes. I didn’t really taste the passionfruit ;-(. But otherwise, they have been as good as everything else at the Fat Pig.
What did we order
- poached eggs
- scrambled eggs
- bread with butter & honey
- baked beans
- mushrooms
- bacon
- Thai Ice Tea
- Iced Latte
- Banana-Passionfruit Crêpes

The mixed, self-created breakfast with all your favorite dishes is fun to order and super delicious. Love the idea!
Guess which plate was mine and which one was ordered by Gerwin 😉
Location
It’s definitely the farthest away from KoHub from all of the places I mentioned for breakfast, but it is definitely worth it. Walking distance seems to be over an hour, but that’s the point where you’ll probably mount your scooter or take a TukTuk.
Where to grab lunch near KoHub?
Although it is pretty hot all the time you probably will get hungry at some point. So let’s talk about where you could get some lunch near KoHub.
Living Room Bakery
As mentioned before The Living Room Bakery has not only breakfast but also lunch. One thing I ate there for lunch was the Club sandwich which was really good and also a lot.
What did we order
- for lunch only the Club sandwich
Average expenses for 2 & favorite dish
Average bill amount for a lunch for 2 people: ฿ 340
Favorite dish: Club sandwich — delicious and big.
Location
As mentioned above the Living Room Bakery is only 4 min down south of KoHub — so super convenient if you want to grab a brekkie in the morning, coffee any time of the day or go for lunch. But don’t be too hard on yourself when you walk back to KoHub with your brownie and an iced latte while others are sweating off their asses in the gym that’s located between KoHub and the Living Room Bakery. Just walk by as you earned your brownie: chest out, belly in and a smile on your face 😉
Mays Kitchen
Next door to KoHub is Mays Kitchen, where you can get some Thai food. If you want a short break from the delicious KoHub food it is a good and quick place to escape to.
What did we order
- Pad Thai
- Spring rolls
- Curry
- Larb salad
Average expenses for 2 & favorite dish
Average bill amount for a lunch for 2 people: ฿ 230
Favorite dish: Larb salad
Location
Mays Kitchen is just around the corner, which basically means get out of KoHub, walk for 1 min south and you may even make it there without sweating your ass off. At least on one of the colder Koh Lanta days.
KoHubs Kitchen
Of course, if you are working from KoHub the KoHub kitchen is an absolutely amazing and super convenient place to get your food (delivered to your desk). The new (since ~March 2017) online ordering system makes it very easy to order your breakfast/lunch/dinner or anything in between. Check out the online menu, adjust it to your spiciness level and add the information where you wanna get it delivered. Done. About 10-15 min later you are all into your Pad Thai, your Green curry or your spicy Thai noodles.
What did we order
- Pad Thai
- Thai spaghetti
- Penang noodles
- Larb
- Green curry
- Penang curry
- Spring rolls
- Cold comfort
- Coffee shake
- Mixed vegetables (with extra chicken)
- and a lot of other stuff
Probably the list had been shorter if we had just mentioned, what we didn’t order 😉
Average expenses for 2 & favorite dish
Average bill amount for a lunch for 2 people: ฿ 240.
My favorite dish was definitely KoHubs Pad Thai 😉
Location
As you may know or expect, the KoHub kitchen is directly at KoHub, so really convenient for people who want to concentrate on their work or are just too lazy to grab something somewhere else.
Not a Toy
This small and beautifully decorated cafe named Not a Toy has the most amazing veggie burgers ever. I think they are also the best burgers (including the once with meat) I’ve had in my entire life so far.

Average bill amount for a lunch for 2 people: ฿ 240
I haven’t even tried anything else after the Mushroom burger (฿ 120). But you have to be careful — it seems that they always have ingredients for only 1 Mushroom burger 😉
Location
This one is not as close to KoHub as most of the other places I mentioned, but it is definitely worth a visit. Actually, it’s not far away from The Fat Pig :-).
Kunda Vegetarian Restaurant
If you are looking for a good vegetarian restaurant you definitely have to check out Kunda Vegetarian Restaurant. Although it is more expensive than the average restaurant on Koh Lanta, the food is absolutely delicious and a nice change, if you want to have a break from the amazing Thai food.
What did we order
- Karma
- Pasta
- Vegan Schmegan
If you go there you have to take your time and read the menu. I am pretty sure that this is the funniest and most interesting menu I’ve ever read in my whole life.
Average expenses for 2 & favorite dish
Average bill amount for lunch for 2 people: ฿ 840
I had to take the Karma menu — the “you get what you deserve” menu 🙂 And I have to say, it seems I was a really good kid that day. My meal was super delicious.
Location
Kunda Vegetarian Restaurant is located south from KoHub. You will want to take your scooter or go by tuk tuk because according to Google Maps it’s 39 min walking distance from KoHub.
What about dinner & dessert?
Now you are armed with at least a couple of places that will give you different possibilities to survive until 2 p.m. each day.
But you probably ask yourself: “What about dinner?”
No worries — I also have some pretty good recommendations where you can get quick, delicious and even romantic dinner. But most importantly, I can also give you some tips on where you can grab dessert, so that you have a plan for THAT time of the day as well.
And if YOU have any good places you would like to share with future Koh Lanta visitors, please fill free to do so in the comments below.
I would love to hear about your favorite breakfast and lunch places.
